White privilege in action here.
Australian prime minister Julia Gillard is escorted by police and bodyguards from an awards ceremony in Canberra after Aboriginal protesters tried to get into the building. The protesters were apparently pounding on the prime minister’s car door, shouting ‘shame’ and ‘racist’ as she left.
Isn’t it funny how indigenous peoples endure hundreds of years of genocide (STILL ongoing by denying them natural resources, stealing their land, impoverishing them and destroying their cultures! and that’s not even the half of it), which gets denied by the media and governments, who then release photos like this of rich, terrified leaders fleeing from the ‘rabble’?
This photo is nothing compared to the hundreds of years of collective trauma inflicted upon indigenous peoples worldwide. But what’s more likely to be shown on the news?
FUCK racism.
